Title: Funding for Natural Resources and Cultural Heritage

Vote Smart's Synopsis:

Vote to pass a bill proposing a constitutional amendment to be presented to the voters of Minnesota, that would increase the sales tax by .375% in order to fund natural resource and cultural heritage programs.

Highlights:
- Appropriates 33% of receipts to the outdoor heritage fund, to enhance habitats for fish, game and wildlife (Sec. 1). - Appropriates 33% of receipts to the clean water fund, to protect water resources within the state. At least 5% of it must be spent on drinking water sources (Sec. 1). - Appropriates 14.25% of receipts to the parks and trails fund, to support parks and trails within the state (Sec. 1). - Appropriates 19.75% of receipts to the arts and cultural heritage fund, to be used to preserve art education and Minnesota's cultural heritage and history (sec. 1). - Provides that the proposed amendment will be submitted to the voters of Minnesota at the 2008 general election (sec. 2).
