Vote to pass a bill that requires proof of legal residence, including a Social Security number, to obtain a drivers license.

Highlights:

- Allows someone without a Social Security number to obtain a drivers license if that person can provide proof of legal presence in the United States and Social Security number ineligibility [sec. 2 (2) (a)]. - Establishes the same requirements for limited term driver's licenses and identification cards (Sec. 4). - Mandates that driver's licenses display the individual's full legal name and signature [sec. 12 (3)]. - Allows applicants for driver's licenses and identification cards who cannot produce the necessary documentation, but are to the best of their knowledge legally present in the United States, to be issued a temporary drivers permit to be valid for a period of 90 days [sec. 27 (5-6) & sec. 28 (4-5)]. - Requires the Department of Transportation to provide the public with someone to assist applicants who lack the proper documentation but, to the best of their knowledge, are legally present in the United States (Sec. 34).
