Title: Department of Natural Resources Appropriations
Title: 2007-2008 Department of Natural Resources Budget
Vote to adopt a conference report that appropriates for the Department of Natural Resources for fiscal year 2007-2008.
-$289.2 million to the Department of Natural Resources (Sec. 101). -$29.5 million for Wildlife Management (Sec. 106). -$29.7 million for Fisheries Management (Sec. 107). -$63.1 million for Parks and Recreation (Sec. 108). -$39.6 million for Forest, Mineral, and Fire Management (Sec. 109). -Prohibits state departments and agencies from hiring any new full-time civil service employee or filling any vacant full-time civil service position. The state budget director is permitted to grant exceptions to the hiring freeze (Sec. 205). -Prohibits the use of appropriated funds for the purchase of foreign goods and services when competitively priced American goods and services of comparable quality are available. Gives preference to Michigan businesses, especially those owned or operated by veterans, if the produced goods are competitively priced and of comparable quality (Sec. 215). -Restricts the use of state appropriated funds for the out-of-state travel expenses of department employees (Sec. 214). -Requires the director take all reasonable measures to ensure businesses in deprived and depressed communities and in Lake County compete for and perform contracts to provide services or supplies (Sec. 216).
