Title: Extended Transportation Projects Contract
Vote Smart's Synopsis:
Vote to pass a bill that allows the state to contract highway projects including bridge reconstruction or improvement for 25 years and changes bonding requirements.
-Limits extension to one new contract (Sec. A).
-Requires at least two bids before a contract can be granted (Sec. A).
-Pays contractor only after repairs are completed. The contractor must maintain bridges and roads for 25 years (Sec. A).
NOTE: A BILL WITH AN EMERGENCY CLAUSE REQUIRES A SEPARATE TWO-THIRDS VOTE OF THE LEGISLATURE FOR THE CLAUSE TO PASS. IF THE CLAUSE IS PASSED, THE BILL GOES INTO EFFECT IMMEDIATELY UPON THE GOVERNOR'S SIGNATURE.
