Title: Tobacco Tax Increase for Childrens Health Care
Vote to pass a bill that raises the tobacco tax to provide health insurance for uninsured children.
- Creates the Oregon Healthy Kids Program to provide medical assistance to children, a health advice hotline, and support for rural health care facilities (sec. 1). - Provides health care to uninsured children under age 19 and pregnant women with a household income under 250 percent of the federal poverty level (sec. 3). - Increases the tax on each pack of 20 cigarettes by 84.5 cents, a portion of which is transferred to the Healthy Kids Fund (sec. 15-16).
