Vote to pass a bill that raises the small employer minimum wage to $6.75 an hour and the large employer minimum wage to $7.90 an hour by July 24, 2009.
Highlights:
-Defines large employers as having a gross volume of $625,000 or more per year and small employers as having a gross volume of less than $625,000 per year (Sec. 1).
-Allows an employer to pay an employee under the age of 20 years a wage of $5.25 an hour during the first 90 consecutive days of employment, effective July 24, 2008 (Sec. 1).
-Requires the minimum wage to increase after 2009 at the same rate as the percentage increase in the rate of inflation as determined by the Consumer Price Index (Sec. 1).
