Vote to pass a bill that provides a temporary sales tax exemption on items of footwear and certain items of clothing.
Highlights:
-Provides revenue to municipalities and counties equal to the amount of revenue lost from the sales tax exemptions (sec. 1).
-Provides that the sales tax exemption will start on the first Friday in August and end on the following Sunday (sec. 2).
-Excludes from the exemption clothing and footwear that is explicitly designed for athletic use, accessory items, clothing and footwear rentals, and any items over $100 (sec. 2).
-Declares an emergency, making the bill effective from the date of its passage and approval (sec. 7).
