Vote to pass a bill that allows judges to place drug possession offenders in community supervision programs.

Highlights:
-Allows the judge to place drug possession offenders in community supervision programs (sec. 2). -Describes the qualifying community supervision programs as including faith-based programs, outpatient treatment, halfway houses, narcotic replacement therapy, drug education courses, and inpatient treatment (sec. 2). -Allows the defendant to petition the judge to prohibit the public disclosure of criminal records relating to the crime for which the defendant was placed in community supervision once the program is successfully completed (sec. 3). -States that a person cannot petition the court to keep their offense off of the public record if they have committed “an offense requiring registration as a sex offender” among other offenses (sec. 3).
