Vote to pass a bill that would ban handheld cell phone use while driving.
Highlights:
- Provides exemptions for handheld cell phone use by an authorized emergency vehicle or a tow truck responding to a disabled vehicle [sec. 2(2)(a)].
- Provides exemptions for handheld cell phone use when user is reporting illegal activity, when summoning medical/emergency help, or when preventing injury to a person or property [sec. 2(2)(c)].
- Provides exemptions for phones use via speaker phone, headset, or ear piece [sec. 2(4)].
- Does not require these violations to be reported to employers or insurance companies [sec. 2(7)].
