Vote to pass a bill raising the minimum wage in three increments to $7.25 an hour by July 1, 2009.
- Raises the minimum wage to $5.85 upon passage, to $6.55 on July 1, 2008, and then to $7.25 on July 1, 2009 [sec. 1(1)].
- Specifies that if the federal minimum wage exceeds that of the state, the state will equal the federal wage [sec. 1(1)].
- Specifies that employees earning more than $30 per month in tips are subject to federal minimum wage law for tipped employees [sec. 1(2)].
