Title: Advanced Placement Incentives Program

Vote to pass a bill that creates incentive programs for schools, teachers, and students to participate in Advanced Placement (AP) courses in math and science.

Highlights:

- Establishes an Advanced Placement (AP) incentive fund to cover costs associated with establishing and expanding AP programs, including fees for AP exams [sec. 1(1)]. - Provides start-up grants for schools that wish to offer AP calculus, physics, or chemistry to cover the costs of training, planning, supplies, textbooks, and lab equipment [sec. 1(3)]. - Provides per-student rewards for teachers whose students perform well on AP calculus, physics, or chemistry exams with higher per-student rewards for students eligible for free or reduced price lunches. Cumulative awards may not exceed $10,000 per teacher [sec. 1(7-8)]. - Provides scholarship up to $300 for students who score well on AP exams and qualify for free or reduced price lunches [sec. 11(3)(c)]. - Establishes and funds the Middle School Mathematics and Science Scholars Program to prepare students for high school AP courses, especially students from low socioeconomic levels and racial minorities [sec. 2(1-3)]. - Establishes scholarships for students to attend AP math and science courses through the Kentucky Virtual High School if their school does not offer AP courses [sec. 1(12)].
