Vote to pass a bill that requires schools to send parents of all girls entering the sixth grade information about human papillomavirus (HPV) and vaccination.
Highlights:
- Requires schools to provide parents with the most current scientific information on HPV, its connection to cervical cancer, and immunization [SEC. 1(c)(1-4)].
- Allows parents 20 school days from the first day of school to provide the school with a written report stating that the parent has received the information and whether they have decided to have their student immunized [SEC. 2(a)(1-2)].
- Requires schools to provide the state with a report about the number of girls that have and have not received the HPV immunization beginning in the 2008-2009 school year [SEC. 3(4)(a)].
