Vote on a motion to waive the Budget Act in order to adopt an amendment that authorizes $21.9 billion for the Department of Veterans Affairs and offsets the cost through changes made to tax rates on capital gains and dividends.

Highlights:
  • Appropriates $14 billion for the Veterans Benefits Administration for Compensation and Pensions for the years of 2006 through 2010.
  • Appropriates $6.9 billion to the Department of Veterans Affairs for the Veterans Health Administration for Medical Care between the years 2006 through 2010.
  • Appropriates $1 billion for the establishment of the Veterans Hospital Improvement Fund.
