Title: Oversight of CIA Interrogation and Detention Amendment

Vote Smart's Synopsis:

Vote to adopt an amendment that requires the Director of the CIA and others to report to the congressional intelligence committees every three months on the detention, interrogation and rendition programs.

Highlights:

Requires the Director of the CIA to include a description of any detention facility, the detainee population, each interrogation technique, the intelligence obtained, violations during the detention and interrogation programs by any government official, and an assessment of the program's effectiveness (Sec. 11).

Instructs the Inspector General of the CIA and the General Counsel of the CIA to each submit an annual report detailing their assessments of the CIA adherence to the laws established regarding the detention, interrogation and rendition program (Sec. 11).

Directs the Attorney General to submit a report within three months of enactment detailing whether the approved interrogation techniques complies with the Constitution and applicable treaties, and why they comply (Sec. 11).
