Vote to adopt a substitute amendment that assigns additional punishment for violence committed against a pregnant woman that interrupts or terminates her pregnancy.
- Defines crime in terms of effect on woman's pregnancy, not in terms of effect on unborn child/fetus.
- Exempts legal abortions.
- Prescribes sentencing guideline of up to 20 years' imprisonment for acts that cause pre-natal injury.
