Vote to pass a bill that appropriates $510.9 million over five years through 2011 to the Appalachian Regional Commission for grants to fund administrative expenses of development plans for counties with economical difficulties.
Highlight: -Specifies that grants under this bill shall not be made to a for profit organization, except those organizations that meet specific percentage requirements (Sec. 2) -Allows grants that cover up to 80 percent of the cost of projects in "distressed communities," and 70 percent in "at-risk counties" (Sec. 2)
