Title: Undocumented Immigrant Emergency Medical Assistance
Vote to pass a bill that would require hospitals to provide information on undocumented immigrants seeking emergency medical care.
- Prohibits federal reimbursement of funds to hospitals that provide emergency services to undocumented immigrants unless the hospital provides the Secretary of Homeland Security with citizenship and employment records (Sec. 3).
- Makes employers of certain undocumented immigrants financially responsible for the medical treatment of these immigrants (Sec. 3).
- Allows the Secretary of Homeland Security to remove undocumented immigrants under Federal immigration law (Sec. 3).
NOTE: THIS VOTE WAS TAKEN UNDER A SUSPENSION OF THE RULES TO CUT OFF DEBATE EARLY AND VOTE TO PASS THE BILL, THEREBY REQUIRING A TWO-THIRDS MAJORITY FOR PASSAGE.
