Title: Healthy Forests Restoration Act of 2003
Vote to adopt a conference report that would authorize $760 million a year to reduce forest fires, and limits judicial reviews of environmental protection rules.
- Directs the Secretary of Agriculture and the Secretary of the Interior to remove fire and insect infestation hazards, including deadfall, diseased and dying trees, and underbrush, from Federal lands, especially those near at-risk homes, and containing threatened and endangered species.
- The thinning would be limited to within 1.5 miles of these at-risk areas.
- Places limits on court hearings to environmental protection rules.
