Title: Vaccine Compensation bill
Vote to pass a bill that would compensate health and emergency workers and/or their families in the event that they incur a serious injury or even death caused by the smallpox vaccination through fiscal year 2007.
- The Secretary of Health and Human Services is required to pay for treatment required by eligible individuals, pay an allotted amount due to loss of income from an injury or disability, and establish the yearly and lifetime limits on payments for eligible individuals.
- The Secretary will also provide a death benefit for any family who lost their loved one because of the smallpox vaccination.
NOTE: THIS VOTE WAS TAKEN UNDER A SUSPENSION OF THE RULES TO CUT OFF DEBATE EARLY AND VOTE TO PASS THE BILL, THEREBY REQUIRING A TWO-THIRDS MAJORITY FOR PASSAGE.
