Title: Kosovo Peacekeeping Operations Resolution
Vote to adopt a concurrent resolution to allow the deployment of American troops to Kosovo as part of a NATO peacekeeping mission.
- Requires that the number of U.S. troops deployed not exceed 15 percent of the total of NATO forces in Kosovo, unless the President notifies Congress that U.S. forces or citizens are in danger.
- Calls upon the President to report various issues to Congress before ordering such deployments, including the following: national interests at risk, rules of engagement, exit strategy, chain of command, the resources needed for the operation, and certification that U.S. forces will be under the exclusive operational control of U.S. military commanders.
