Vote to adopt a resolution that calls on the President to submit an up to date FY1998 budget to the House by April 7, 1997.
Requests that the new budget be based on the most recent economic estimates from the Congressional Budget Office.
Calls for budget reduction through programmatic reforms, rather than alternative budgetary procedures such as spending cuts or eliminating tax cuts.
Requests that a significant proportion of the budget's total savings be realized by FY2000.
Calls for sufficient reforms to forestall the bankruptcy of Medicare.
