Vote to pass a bill that requires detailed reporting of campaign contributions by candidates and to increase the amount of information the Federal Election Commission makes available to the public.
Highlight: -Gives each political committee 24 hours to notify the Federal Election Commission and the State Department of any individual contribution made within 90 days of the election. -Mandates that each political committee report the candidate's name, the office sought, the identification of the contributor, the date, and the amount contributed within one day of receiving an individual contribution. -Compels the Federal Election Commission to file contribution information electronically immediately upon receiving it. -Requires the Federal Election Commission to respond publicly to questions and complaints about campaign finance law. -Bans cash contributions greater than $100.

NOTE: THIS VOTE WAS TAKEN UNDER A SUSPENSION OF THE RULES TO CUT OFF DEBATE EARLY AND VOTE TO PASS THE BILL, THEREBY REQUIRING A TWO-THIRDS MAJORITY FOR PASSAGE.
