Vote to pass a bill calling for a $50 million forest recovery and protection program managed by the U.S. Forest Service.
- Establishes a 5 year program to recover and protect U.S. forest land.
- Creates a scientific advisory panel to help the U.S. Forest Service identify, prioritize and monitor restoration projects.
- Includes requirements for audits and reports in order to ensure fiscal accountability, transparency and efficiency.
- Designates a transfer of any funding necessary for the program from the Interior Department to a Forest Recovery and Protection Fund and prohibits that funding from being used for road construction.
