Title: Housing for Older Persons Act of 1995

Vote Smart's Synopsis:

Vote to pass a bill that amends the Fair Housing Act's definition for housing for older persons.

Highlights:
- Exempts communities that provide housing for older persons from housing discrimination laws if at least 80 percent of occupied units are occupied by at least one person over the age of 55. - Eliminates a provision that requires exempt housing to have "significant facilities and services," such as buses, walkways, and other facilities designed for older residents. - Exempts an individual from monetary damages for violation of the Fair Housing Act if the person made a good faith attempt to comply.
