Vote to pass a bill that appropriates funds for education.
Highlights:
Appropriates funds to school districts with a population greater than 500,000 from a variety of sources including, but not limited to, the following funds (Sec. 940):
37% of the funds from the Early Childhood Education Block Grant; and
48.4% of funds appropriated by the General Assembly for payments to school districts for special education purposes.
Appropriates funds from the Common School Fund to the Public School Teachers' Pension and Retirement Fund of Chicago on a monthly basis in an amount equal to the difference between all other state contributions to that fund and the vouchers submitted for state contributions (Sec. 920).
Repeals the current general state aid formula, low income student funding formula, and current allocations for special education and English language learning programs (Sec. 940).
Establishes a new primary state aid formula (Sec. 940).
