Highlights:

• Prohibits local governments and officials from adopting or enforcing the following types of ordinances (Sec. 1):
• An ordinance that prohibits local officers and officials from cooperating with federal immigration officials;
• An ordinance that limits law enforcement investigations into the immigration status of a suspect, arrestee, or other individual in custody; and
• An ordinance that declines a request by federal immigration officials to hold an individual in custody until federal officials can assume custody.

• Specifies that a local government shall be liable to an individual who suffers any damages caused by an individual who was not detained or held in custody due to a violation of this bill (Sec. 1).
