Title: Amends Redistricting Process

Vote to pass a joint resolution that submits a constitutional amendment to the voters that amends the redistricting process.

Highlights:

  • Repeals the requirement that each legislative district be divided into 2 representative districts (Sec. 2).
  • Establishes the Senate Redistricting Commission and the House Redistricting Commission each composed of 10 members, with no more than 5 members of the same political party, by February 1 of a year following a federal census (Sec. 3).
  • Specifies that the minority leader and president of the Senate each appoint 5 members to the Senate Redistricting Commission, and the minority leader and speaker of the House each appoint 5 members to the House Redistricting Commission (Sec. 3).
