Title: Requires Certain Identification to Vote

Vote to pass a bill that requires an individual to present a valid photo identification document in order to vote.

Highlights:

  • Requires an individual to present any of the following valid photo identification documents to a poll clerk in order to vote (Sec. 1):
    • A state-issued driver’s license;
    • A West Virginia identification card;
    • A United States passport;
    • An employee identification card issued by a federal or West Virginian agency;
    • A student identification card issued by a West Virginia technical school or university; or
    • A military identification card.
  • Authorizes an individual who is unable to present a photo identification document to vote after he or she files an affidavit affirming his or her identity (Sec. 1).
