Title: Prohibits Certain Pesticides

Vote to pass a bill that prohibits the use and sale of certain pesticides, effective January 1, 2018.

Highlights:

  • Prohibits an individual from selling a neonicotinoid pesticide on or after January 1, 2018, unless the individual is authorized to sell a restricted use pesticide (Sec. 5).
  • Prohibits an individual from using a neonicotinoid pesticide on or after January 1, 2018, unless the individual has the following professions (Sec. 5):
    • A certified applicator or an individual supervised by a certified applicator;
    • A farmer, or an individual supervised by a farmer; or
    • A veterinarian.
  • Exempts certain products from the provisions of this bill, including the following products (Sec. 5):
    • A product for pet care used to mitigate fleas, mites, ticks, heartworms, or other animals;
    • A product for personal care used to mitigate lice and bedbugs; and
    • A product for indoor pest control used to mitigate insects indoors, including ant bait.
  • Establishes a civil penalty of $50 for a violation of the provisions of this bill (Sec. 5).
