Title: Authorizes a Gambling Facility in Tiverton

Vote to pass a bill that authorizes a gambling facility in Tiverton.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes Twin River-Tiverton, LLC to have a licensed pari-mutuel facility that is located at the intersection of William S. Canning Boulevard and Stafford Road in Tiverton and that offers state-operated video lottery games and casino gaming only if eligible voters approve the facility (Sec. 1 & 3).
  • Defines a “pari-mutuel licensee” as an entity licensed to hold or conduct a dog race or an entity licensed to conduct the sport jai alai and operate a jai alai fronton court (Sec. 2).
  • Authorizes the state to have up to 2 pari-mutuel facilities with video lottery games, with 1 facility in Lincoln and the other in Newport or Tiverton (Sec. 2).

  • Requires the net table game revenue from the Lincoln facility to be allocated to the following funds (Sec. 2):
    • 1 percent to the town of Lincoln;
    • 15.5 percent first to the state lottery fund and the remaining to the state general fund.
  • Requires the state to pay shortfalls out of the percentage of the net table game revenues to either the town of Lincoln or Tiverton if either town has not received at least a $3 million dollar sum from net table game revenues and net terminal income generated by the town’s respective pari-mutuel facility (Sec. 2).
