Vote to pass a bill that establishes tax exemptions for certain sporting event, school, and energy efficiency purchases, effective July 1, 2016.

Highlights:

• Establishes a tax exemption for admissions to nonrecurring “major sporting events” (Sec. 1).
• Defines “major sporting events” as the following events (Sec. 1):
• The National Football League championship game;
• Any semifinal game or championship game of a national collegiate tournament;
• Any Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer, or National Basketball Association all-star games; and
• Any other nonrecurring major sporting event as determined by the commissioner of economic development and the state revenue commissioner.
• Establishes a tax exemption for school supplies purchased between July 30, 2016, and July 31, 2016 (Sec. 1).
• Establishes a tax exemption for energy efficient products purchased between September 30, 2016 and October 2, 2016 (Sec. 1).
• Limits the tax exemption for energy efficient products to apply only to products with sales prices up to $1,500 (Sec. 1).
