Title: Authorizes Medical Marijuana

Vote to pass a bill that authorizes an individual with a qualifying illness to use medical marijuana, effective July 1, 2016.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes an individual with a “qualifying illness” to be eligible for a medical cannabis card, if he or she meets the following qualifications (Sec. 35):
    • The individual is at least 18 years old;
    • The individual is a resident of Utah; and
    • The individual has a physician’s recommendation.
  • Defines “qualifying illness” as an illness including, but not limited to, HIV, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, epilepsy, and post-traumatic stress disorder (Sec. 29).
  • Authorizes a licensed cannabis dispensary to sell a cannabis product to an individual with a medical cannabis card (Sec. 47).
