Title: 2016-2017 Budget

Vote to pass a bill that appropriates funds for the 2016-2017 fiscal year.

Highlights:

  • Transfers $26,063,900 from the tobacco settlement program fund for Medicaid programs (Sec. 4).
  • Appropriates $49,127,500 for early childhood programs including the following additional amounts (Sec. 4):
    • $50,000 for provider education programs;
    • $1,000,000 for early pre-kindergarten programs; and
    • $400,000 for home visiting programs.
  • Appropriates funds to the inmate management and control program of the New Mexico Corrections Department including, but not limited to $5,700,000 to implement an occupationally based salary structure (Sec. 4).
  • Appropriates $1,265,600 for the law enforcement program of the Department of Public Safety from the weight distance tax identification permit fund (Sec. 4). 
  • Appropriates $3,081,634.7 to the Department of Higher Education (Sec. 4).
