Vote to pass a bill that prohibits labor unions from automatically deducting dues from teachers' paychecks.

Highlights:

• Prohibits any local education agency (LEA) whose board of education engages in collaborative conferencing from deducting and remitting dues deducted from the payroll of employees for the following organizations (Sec. 3):
• A professional employee organization;
• A professional employee organization that contributes funds to another organization that engages in political activity; and
• A professional employee organization that is affiliated with an organization that funds, financially supports, or engages in political activity.

• Specifies that LEA employees may personally and voluntarily remit dues to any professional employee organization (Sec. 3).

• Specifies that professional employee organizations can establish a separate system for dues collections, independent of an LEA-supported system of payroll deduction (Sec. 3).
