Title: Amends Voting Schedule

Vote to pass a bill that amends the voting schedule for elections from April to November in odd-numbered years, effective January 1, 2017.

Highlights:

  • Requires all primary elections to be held on the first Tuesday in August and all general elections to be held of the Tuesday after the first Monday of November in odd numbered years (Sec. 1).
  • Extends the term limit of government members and elected officials that would expire any time in 2017 to the second Monday in January of 2018 (Sec. 1).
  • Extends the term limit of government members and elected officials serving 4 year terms and that would expire anytime in 2019 to the second Monday in January of 2020 (Sec. 1).
  • Authorizes a city to have an election in an even numbered year to provide for staggered terms or 3 year terms (Sec. 1).
  • Requires a school district to make school buildings available for polling places provided the county elections officer gives the school district at least 365 days’ notice (Sec. 4).
