Title: Prohibits Asking Job Applicants' Criminal History
Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that prohibits employers from excluding an applicant from an initial interview solely because of a past criminal conviction.
Prohibits employers from excluding a job candidate from an initial interview solely because of a past criminal conviction (Sec. 1).
Specifies that an employer has excluded a candidate from an initial interview in the following circumstances (Sec. 1):
Employer requires applicants to disclose criminal convictions on an application;
Employer requires applicants to disclose criminal convictions prior to an interview; or
If no interview is conducted, employer requires applicants to disclose criminal convictions prior to a conditional offer of employment.
Specifies that employers are not prohibited from considering criminal convictions when making hiring decisions (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the above provisions do not apply if other laws or regulations require such disclosure, if the employer is a law enforcement agency, or if the employer is a correctional facility (Sec. 1).
