Vote to pass a bill that requires high school students to pass a civics test before graduation, effective during the 2016-2017 school year.

Highlights:

  • Requires a public Arizona high school student to correctly answer at least 60 of 100 questions on a civics test identical to the naturalization test used by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services in order to receive a high school diploma, beginning the 2016-2017 school year and thereafter (Sec. 1).
  • Specifies that a student who does not pass the civics test may retake the test until they pass in order to graduate (Sec. 1).
