Vote to pass a bill that appropriates funds to assist in financing the construction of a new sports arena in the city of Milwaukee.

Highlights:

  • Appropriates $250 million in public funds to financially assist in the development and construction of a new sports and entertainment arena in the city of Milwaukee (Sec. 75). 
  • Authorizes Milwaukee County to enter into a development agreement with a professional basketball team for the purposes of constructing a sports and entertainment arena, if the team agrees to pay at least $250 million for the development and construction of the arena and signs a non-relocation agreement (Sec. 75). 
  • Requires a sponsor of an event that is held at a sports and entertainment arena to impose a $2 surcharge on each ticket sold for the event, to be distributed according to the following requirements (Sec. 74e): 
    • $0.50 per ticket to the Wisconsin general fund; and
    • $1.50 per ticket to the local exposition district. 
  • Specifies that the amount of state appropriations determined for distribution to a county in which a sports and entertainment arena is located will be decreased by $4 million annually until 2035 (Sec. 49).
