Title: Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2016

Vote to pass a bill that appropriates funds to the Department of Energy and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for fiscal year 2016.

Highlights:

  • Appropriates $10.46 billion to the Department of Energy for certain projects including, but not limited to, the following projects (Title III):
    • $605 million for fossil energy research and development activities;
    • $1.66 billion for energy efficiency and renewable energy activities;
    • $936.16 million for nuclear energy activities; and
    • $150 million for nuclear waste disposal activities, including $5 million for the Yucca Mountain repository.
  • Appropriates $5.59 billion to the Army Corps of Engineers for projects including, but not limited to, waterway construction and flood and storm damage reduction (Title I).
  • Appropriates $12.33 billion to the National Nuclear Security Administration for atomic energy activities, including $8.71 billion for new atomic energy weapons activities (Title III).
  • Appropriates $5.06 billion to the Department of Energy for environmental cleanup activities at atomic energy defense sites (Title III).
  • Prohibits funds appropriated to the Army Corps of Engineers from being used to implement or enforce a rule amending the definition of “waters of the United States” (WOTUS) made after October 1, 2012 (Sec. 105).
  • Authorizes an individual to possess a firearm at a water resources development project (Sec. 107).
