Vote to pass a bill that prohibits "sexual-orientation change efforts" with minors.

Highlights:

• Prohibits a mental health provider from engaging in “sexual orientation change efforts” with an individual who is less than 18 years old (Sec. 1).

• Defines “sexual orientation change effort” as a practice by a mental health provider that seeks to change an individual’s sexual orientation, including, but not limited to, efforts to change gender expression or reduce sexual or romantic feelings for an individual of the same sex (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that sexual orientation change efforts do not include the following efforts (Sec. 1):
• Counseling or therapy that provides acceptance, support, and understanding;
• Psychotherapies that do not seek to change sexual orientation; or
• Counseling for an individual seeking to transition to another gender.

• Requires a mental health provider who violates the provisions of this bill to be subject to disciplinary action by the licensing entity or disciplinary authority with professional jurisdiction over the mental health provider (Sec. 1).
