Vote to pass a bill that increases the minimum wage.

Highlights:

  • Increases the hourly minimum wage in cities with populations of at least 1 million and counties of at least 900,000 on December 31 of every year to the following amounts (Sec. 1):
    • $12.50 in 2016, and $10.50 for the rest of the state;
    • $13.75 in 2017, and $11.55 for the rest of the state; and
    • $15 in 2018, and $12.60 for the rest of the state.
  • Increases the hourly minimum wage for a food service employee who receives tips in cities with populations of at least 1 million and counties of at least 900,000 on December 31 of every year to the following amounts (Sec. 1):
    • $10.40 in 2016, and $8.75 for the rest of the state;
    • $11.45 in 2017, and $9.65 for the rest of the state; and
    • $12.50 in 2018, and $10.50 for the rest of the state.
  • Increases the meal and lodging allowance for food service employees paid in cash wages in cities with populations of at least 1 million and counties of at least 900,000 on December 31 of every year to the following amounts (Sec. 1):
    • $10.40 in 2016, and $8.75 for the rest of the state;
    • $11.45in 2017, and $9.65 for the rest of the state; and
    • $12.50 in 2018, and $10.50 for the rest of the state.
  • Requires the Commissioner of Labor to adjust all minimum wage and allowance rates annually beginning December 31, 2019, by increasing the current rate by the rate of inflation for the most recent 12 month period (Sec. 1).
