Title: Amends Valid Forms of Voter Identification

Vote Smart's Synopsis:

Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that amends valid forms of voter identification.

Highlights:

  • Expands the valid forms of voter identification to include the following forms (Sec. 2):
    • A long-term care certificate prescribed by the Secretary of State; and
    • A current military identification card or passport.
  • Repeals the following forms of voter identification (Sec. 2):
    • An expired driver's license or non-driver identification;
    • Another official form of identification issued by the state; and
    • Alternative forms of identification prescribed the Secretary of State. 
  • Requires a poll clerk to direct individuals who have not lived in the precinct for at least 30 days to the proper voting location (Sec. 2). 
  • Limits the ability to have another qualified elector certify the application for an absent voter’s ballot to an individual whose disability prevents him or her from traveling to obtain an approved form of identification (Sec. 3).
