Vote to pass a bill that expands the medical marijuana authorization to certain medical conditions.

Highlights:

• Authorizes a patient, or a patient’s primary caregiver, to obtain a medical cannabis registration card if the patient has received a written recommendation from a healthcare practitioner stating the patient is suffering from a “debilitating medical condition” (Sec. 8).
• Defines “debilitating medical condition” as certain conditions, including, but not limited to cancer, multiple sclerosis, and epilepsy (Sec. 6).
• Requires the Department of Public Health to license 12 medical cannabis dispensaries by April 1, 2016 (Sec. 12).
• Requires the department to license 4 cannabis manufacturers to produce medical cannabis by December 1, 2015 (Sec. 10).
• Prohibits individuals from smoking medical cannabis (Sec. 17).
