Vote to pass a bill that expands the medical marijuana authorization to certain medical conditions.
Highlights:
Authorizes a patient, or a patient’s primary caregiver, to obtain a medical cannabis registration card if the patient has received a written recommendation from a healthcare practitioner stating the patient is suffering from a “debilitating medical condition” (Sec. 8).
Defines “debilitating medical condition” as certain conditions, including, but not limited to cancer, multiple sclerosis, and epilepsy (Sec. 6).
Requires the Department of Public Health to license 12 medical cannabis dispensaries by April 1, 2016 (Sec. 12).
Requires the department to license 4 cannabis manufacturers to produce medical cannabis by December 1, 2015 (Sec. 10).
Prohibits individuals from smoking medical cannabis (Sec. 17).
