Vote to pass a bill that requires a physician to notify a parent or guardian if a minor seeks an abortion.

Highlights:

• Requires a physician to notify at least 1 parent or guardian of a minor if she seeks an abortion, with the exception of the following circumstances (Secs. 10 & 12):
• A medical emergency exists which requires an immediate abortion;
• A parent or guardian of the minor certifies in writing that he or she has already been notified of the abortion; or
• A court has given judicial authorization to waive parental notification.

• Requires the physician to wait 48 hours after sending parental notification before performing the abortion (Secs. 10 & 12).

• Authorizes a minor seeking an abortion to petition the district court to authorize a physician to perform an abortion without notifying a parent or guardian (Sec.13).
