Title: Establishes Vehicle Manufacturer Headquarter License Plates

Vote to pass a bill that establishes vehicle manufacturer license plates and exempts holders of the plates from state and local vehicle taxes.

Highlights:

  • Establishes vehicle manufacturer license plates for use by vehicle manufacturers that have headquarters in the state of Georgia (Sec. 2).

  • Authorizes employees of vehicle manufacturers headquartered in Georgia to obtain vehicle manufacturer headquarter license plates for specific uses, including the following (Sec. 2):

    • As part of an evaluation, marketing plan, or for demonstration purposes; and

    • As part of a vehicle leasing program by the vehicle manufacturer for the benefit of its employees.

  • Exempts holders of vehicle manufacturer headquarter license plates from state and local vehicle taxes (Sec. 2).

  • Requires applicants to pay a $62 application fee in addition to the $12 cost for a vehicle manufacturer license plate (Sec. 2).

  • Specifies that the license plate expires after 24 months and must then be renewed or replaced (Sec. 2).
