Title: Authorizes Corporate Dairy and Swine Farms

Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that authorizes a domestic corporation to own or lease land for a dairy farm or swine production facility.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes a domestic corporation or limited liability company to own or lease land for the operation of a dairy farm or swine production facility if certain requirements are met, including, but not limited to, the following requirements (Sec. 1):
    • The land does not exceed 640 acres;
    • The dairy farm or swine production facility is operational within three years from the date of acquisition; and
    • The dairy farm or swine production facility is permitted to operate by the Department of Health and consists of at least 50 cows or 500 swine.
  • Requires the Agriculture Commissioner to develop reporting and monitoring requirements to ensure compliance with the provisions of this bill, and to report directly to the Secretary of State and Attorney General if a domestic corporation or limited liability company is not operating within the requirements (Sec. 1).
