Vote to pass a bill that authorizes the sale of specially designed license plates to raise money for the Choose Life Michigan fund.

Highlights:

• Requires the Secretary of State to develop and issue a fundraising plate recognizing the Choose Life Michigan Fund no later than October 1, 2015 (Sec. 1).

• Establishes the Choose Life Fund within the state treasury (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that monies in the Choose Life Fund at the end of the fiscal year shall remain in the Fund and shall not lapse to the general fund (Sec. 1).

• Requires the Secretary of State to transfer donation money from the sale of fundraising plates to the State Treasurer, who shall credit such donations to the Choose Life Fund (Sec. 1).

• Requires the State Treasurer to disburse funds from the Choose Life Fund to the Choose Life Michigan Fund on an annual basis (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that funds from the Choose Life Michigan fund shall be distributed to eligible nonprofit organizations including, but not limited to (Sec. 1):

• Crisis pregnancy centers;

• Homes for pregnant individuals; and

• Organizations that provide practical support to pregnant individuals.

• Requires such funds be used for programs promoting alternatives to abortion including, but not limited to (Sec. 1):

• Media campaigns;

• Targeted outreach to various at-risk groups; and

• Campaigns to promote adoption.
