Title: Authorizes School Funding for 19-Year-Old Students

Vote to pass a bill that authorizes the funding of school services for students who are less than 20 years old, beginning July 1, 2015.

Highlights:

  • Limits the age of a student that may be calculated into the “annual number belonging” (ANB) budget unit for a school district to 19 years, under the following circumstances (Sec. 2):
    • The student has not reached 20 years of age by September 10 of that school year;
    • The student has not graduated; and
    • The student is enrolled for the purpose of obtaining credits to meet the district’s graduation requirements for a high school diploma.
  • Prohibits a district from including more than 40 students in 1 fiscal year who are 19 years old and from increasing its ANB by 3 due to students who are 19 years of age (Sec. 2).
