Title: Amends Gasoline Tax

Vote to pass a bill that amends taxes on gasoline and certain other fuels at the state and local levels.

Highlights:

  • Increases the motor fuel excise tax from $0.075 per gallon to $0.292 per gallon on non-diesel motor fuel and to $0.33 per gallon on diesel fuel (Sec. 4).
  • Repeals the current state and municipal sales and use tax on motor fuel and establishes a municipal sales and use tax of 1.25 percent on motor fuel (Sec. 4).
  • Establishes the following vehicle registration fees for alternative fueled vehicles, beginning July 1, 2015 (Sec. 2):
    • $200 for an alternative fueled vehicle not used for commercial purposes; and
    • $300 for an alternative fueled vehicle used for commercial purposes.

  • Repeals the tax credits available to zero-emission vehicles purchased on or after July 1, 2015 (Sec. 4).

  • Repeals certain sales and use tax exemptions for jet fuel, beginning June 30, 2015 (Sec. 4).

  • Prohibits the Governor from suspending or modifying the collection of any state motor fuel tax unless the state is in a state of emergency as declared by the Governor (Sec. 3).
